Meet Jason

They say you can judge a man by his enemies, Jason Blazakis has been sanctioned by Putin, stood up to the Taliban’s heroin operation, and testified against Mexican drug cartels. By this measure, Jason is the perfect man to take on the corruption in Washington.

Jason Blazakis grew up in Harmony Township, right on Route 519, and attended Belvidere High School. His dad worked at the New Jersey Army National Guard throughout Jason’s childhood, instilling the values of hard work and public service in him.

Meet Jason

Jason Blazakis grew up in Harmony Township, right on Route 519, and attended Belvidere High School. His dad worked at the New Jersey Army National Guard throughout Jason’s childhood, instilling the values of hard work and public service in him. Jason started working at a young age picking peaches and strawberries on a local farm. He put himself through college with the help of Pell Grants and student loans, aiming for a career in government service.

After college, Jason attended graduate school while working as an aide in Congress, helping draft laws like the Holocaust Awareness Act. His experience of being in both New York City and Washington, DC on 9/11, sitting on an Amtrak train as the attacks unfolded, led him to a career in national security. In 2004, Jason joined the State Department. He spent six months in Afghanistan and later traveled frequently to the country, where he headed the U.S. Embassy’s counternarcotics section that fought the Taliban’s heroin operations. He spent a decade with the State Department, primarily working in counterterrorism.

Currently, Jason is a Professor of Practice, and teaches the next generation to counter violent extremism and mis- and disinformation. Notably, he was recently sanctioned by Vladimir Putin for speaking out against the illegal war against Ukraine.

Throughout his career, Jason has never forgotten his days picking fruit on the farm. He knows firsthand that the dignity of hard work and the financial security it brings is just as critical to our safety as national security. He has always fought to keep Americans safe and will keep up the fight for us in Congress. He currently lives in Lambertville with his partner, Lisa.

Jason Blazakis Core Messages

Jason has spent his entire adult life in service of our nation. In the State Department, working both at home and abroad, he has led the charge in keeping us safe from terrorism, fighting corruption and the illegal drug trade overseas, and tirelessly advocating for the sanctity of democracy. In a dangerous world, with Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine raging on and China a growing threat in the Pacific, his voice on national security is needed now more than ever. Jason is committed to public safety as well – he’ll work to make America safer by getting weapons of war like AR-15’s off our streets. And after a career of standing up to anti-democratic forces around the world, he’ll do the same with MAGA extremists in Congress.

Growing up, Jason worked long days picking peaches and strawberries on a farm in Harmony Township. He understands what it means to put in a hard day’s work and knows that economic security is just as important as national security. In Congress, he’ll show respect for our hard-earned money by working to lower costs for things like gas, groceries, and prescription drugs.

New Jersey is one of the highest-taxed states in the nation, and Washington can no longer ignore the problem. Jason won’t – he’ll work to lower taxes on middle-class New Jersey families and get us much-needed property tax relief by working with both parties to reinstate the SALT deduction.

Jason has served under both Republican and Democratic Presidents. He has seen throughout his career that you get more done when you work as part of a team to put your head down and get to work. He isn’t running for Congress to hurl insults and start pointless fights. He’ll do what he’s always done: focus on the issues at hand and deliver strategic and pragmatic solutions.

Jason will not sit idly by while a generation of women grow up with less rights than their mothers and grandmothers. He will stop Republicans from passing a national abortion ban that would overrule New Jersey’s local protections, making sure New Jerseyans have their rights.
